Sarah Burke is an accomplished political professional with over a decade of experience in senior congressional positions and campaigns.
Previously, Sarah served as the Deputy Staff Director of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, led by Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA). In this role, she oversaw policy, communications, coalitions, operations, and member services. The committee is distinguished by its expansive oversight of various federal agencies and its tradition of bipartisan collaboration. She worked on numerous pieces of landmark legislation that impacts the lives of Americans including the ADVANCE Act, Protecting Americans from Foreign Controlled Adversary Controlled Application Act, Prohibiting Russian Uranium Imports Act, fully funding the Rip and Replace program, the FDA User Fee Reauthorization Program, and the SUPPORT for Patients Act.
Sarah is known as a trusted leader in the House of Representatives with the ability to get things done, her background encompasses strategic leadership, crisis communications, stakeholder management, member relations, budget management, and policy development. Demonstrating exceptional skill in fostering cross-party relationships and executing intricate legislative initiatives, She is a dedicated staffer known for her ability to solve problems, deep relationships on both sides of the aisle, and strategic counsel.
Before her leadership role on the Energy and Commerce Committee, Sarah served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) helping him lay the foundation to take over the powerful Ways & Means Committee. She also worked in House Leadership as the Director of Member Services for the House Republican Conference under the Chair of McMorris Rodgers. Other notable experience includes working with prominent figures such as Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Representative Mark Amodei (R-NV).
Sarah is from Amory, MS, a dedicated military spouse and cherishes her role as a mother to her three children. She graduated from the University of Mississippi as a student in the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College and the Trent Lott Leadership Institute with a degree in Public Policy Leadership.
